Brundall's See & Snap Safari
Families have been on safari in Brundall during the Whitsun holiday - to explore our village's history.
The 'See & Snap Safari' takes participants on a trail to 25 locations around the village to try and spot Brundall's hidden historical features and capture them on camera.
Entrants were taking their photos, on their cameras or other devices, to Brundall Library on Saturday June 3 for verification, when answers and further information about all the features will be on show. There are no prizes, but Brundall Discovery badges will be awarded for taking part.
And don't worry if you can't get to the library on Saturday - there are extra slots to pick up your badge:
Thursday 8th June 4-5.30pm
Saturday 10th June 2-3.30pm
All the answers and more information will be posted online soon.
Brundall Local History Group chairman Barbara Ayers said: “There are many surprising architectural and other unusual features around the village which people may pass by every day yet not notice. Parents were pleased to have an activity to do with their children at half term but it was especially good to see them become very interested in Brundall’s history for themselves.”
She added: “We are very grateful to have received support for our event from Brundall Parish Council as well as Norfolk Libraries & Information Service, Brundall Primary School and scout and guide groups.”
More than 700 discovery trails were distributed through various community channels.
The idea was for people to collect a free trail map, identify the locations marked on it, walk or cycle to them, step back and take a good look around. Then spot the historical feature, match it to an image in the leaflet and take a photo of it with yourself, and/or members of your team, in the frame. Free illustrated trail maps were available from Brundall Library, St Laurence’s Church, Brundall Memorial Hall, Brundall Co-op & Post Office and selected local businesses from Monday May 22.
